Tillamook Resident Arrested for Bank Robberies

VANCOUVER, WA - On September 26, 2007, Robert Alexander Christie, 71, of Tillamook was arrested Friday evening on Interstate 5 in Clark County, Wash., by FBI agents,
Clark County sheriff’s deputies and La Center police officers, after being seen near a Casino.
Earlier Friday, the FBI in Oregon received information from Tillamook Area Law Enforcement identifying Christie as
a possible Suspect. The FBI obtained a warrant to search Christie’s home on Brickyard Rd.
FBI agents said they found information that led them to believe he may be in the Vancouver area Friday night.
Christie remained lodged at the Clark County Jail in Vancouver, WA.
News organizations published and broadcast a series of bank robbery photos that clearly depicting a gray-haired
man now suspected of being Christie.
The “Waddling Bandit” has never shown a weapon. He always wore a hat, and sometimes carried a bag. The FBI
speculated that he might have been diabetic and may have robbed to feed a gambling habit.
