Tillamook man, 23, dies when car plunges into river

MOHLER — The body of a 23-year-old Tillamook man was recovered from the Nehalem River March 7, after his car, traveling north on Miami-Foley Road, left the roadway, striking a power pole and a pump house, then traveled down an embankment into about 8 feet of water.

Divers from the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office recovered the body of Mark. S. McClellan inside his 1984 Toyota Celica.

There are no known witnesses to the crash, but it is believed the accident occurred Tuesday of last week between 8:30 and 11:49 a.m., according to the Sheriff's Office.

The investigation of the crash continues, and anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 815-3330.
