TILLAMOOK — The partially decomposed body of an adult male was found washed up on the beach less than two miles north of the entrance to Tillamook Bay, Jan. 15.

An investigation into the identity of the deceased is being conducted by the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office and by county and state medical examiners.

In late December, two adult males were presumed drowned in separate incidents in Tillamook Bay. Dec. 29, 2005, a commercial fisherman Robert Gary Thomas, 36, of Tillamook was presumed drowned when he and a co-worker tried to swim ashore after their boat drifted off the sand bar where they were collecting sand shrimp. His co-worker made it to shore and called 9-1-1, beginning an unsuccessful search of the area for Thomas.

Dec. 31, 2005, Danny Leroy Beierle, 38, of Gaston, was presumed drowned when his boat capsized in Tillamook Bay. Beierle was not wearing a life jacket. His 13-year-old son was wearing a life jacket and was able to swim to shore. Beierle's body was found Jan. 8 on Short Sands Beach in northern Tillamook County. Short Sands is approximately 20 miles north of the entrance to Tillamook Bay.
